Lifetime HWD Resident With No Learning Curve.

I’m Chris Lane, a lifelong Homewood resident who has raised my family here, and I’m running for City Council for one reason — to make sure Homewood’s government works for the people who call this city home.

For years, I’ve been showing up, listening, and standing up for our neighborhoods, schools, and small businesses. I’m not running for a title or a paycheck. I’m running because I love this city and I know how it works.

Actions speak louder than words. In our new government format, every council vote will matter more than ever. I’ll be ready to get to work for you on Day 1 — and I’ll never stop.

Bringing A Business Mindset To City Hall

None of the incoming City Councilors are business owners. As a company owner and manager, I have spent years honing many skills that map over into managing the policies of a thriving city. Those skills include analysis, problem solving, innovation, collaboration, change management, negotiation, financial analysis and planning, forecasting, risk management and many others.

I have learned how important it is to let customers and employees know that they are valued, to never give up, to always act with honor, to keep a sense of humor and to pass it on to others. We have often heard that a difference between business and government is that business has a profit motive and government does not. But profits give a business the opportunity and freedom to do things they want to. By applying business principles to achieving a city’s needs, the resulting savings allows the city to do more of what the citizens want.

I have attended the vast majority of Council and Committee meetings over most of the last decade, so I know exactly where we’ve been and what needs to be done. There will be no learning curve for me if I’m elected.

Chief Nick Derzis, Hoover Chief of Police & Mayor-Elect

“I’ve had the honor of serving as Hoover’s Police Chief for nearly 20 years. Public safety has been my life’s work, and I know firsthand that it takes strong, committed leaders to make it a true priority. In this race, Chris Lane is that candidate. He understands the importance of supporting law enforcement with the resources they need and making sure families feel safe in their neighborhoods. And just as important, he will always respect the concerns of residents and never disregard them, especially when it comes to keeping our community safe.”

Jeff Underwood, Homewood Resident, Fmr Homewood City Council President, First President & CEO of the Lakeshore Foundation, Fmr Alabama State Senator

“Chris has worked tirelessly over the years to listen and learn about the needs, issues, and opportunities for Homewood. As we’ve discussed issues and challenges through the years, Chris has always been ready with practical and well-thought-out solutions.

His commitment to the City and his willingness to not only work hard but bring fresh perspectives to city hall will be invaluable under our new form of government.”

He listens, leads with integrity, and brings people together. We believe in his vision, and we’re proud to stand with him. We appreciate having the opportunity to vote for someone like Chris.
— Hope & Art Cox, HWD Ward 3 Residents
Chris is a visionary who also has rational solutions to the very real problems that we face in Homewood with potential overdevelopment, parking, flooding, and the ever-worsening road surfaces in our city. Chris loves Homewood and has nothing to gain from a business, personal or political standpoint. We trust Chris and know that he will make decisions informed by what the citizens want!
— Debbie & Ellis Brazeal, HWD Residents
Chris understands the value of raising a family in a close-knit, supportive and thriving community-one that backs local businesses, preserves our top-tier schools, and maintains excellent parks and recreation facilities.
